Building on schools’ suggested focus areas, the programme develops targeted language skills and self-directed learning practices through context-responsive teaching and learning resources.
These resources may focus on listening, speaking, reading, writing, or integrated skills, and can be aligned with a textbook unit or a school-based English programme. They may also incorporate cross-curricular elements, real-life contexts, and extended learning tasks, as appropriate.

Our partnership with QSIP has been a transformative experience, focusing on incorporating self-directed learning into English skills such as vocabulary, grammar, writing, and note-taking for Form 1 students. QSIP’s exceptional support included lesson planning with our teachers, constructive feedback, and sharing effective practices from other schools, which proved invaluable in mentoring our relatively young English teaching team.
A key achievement of this collaboration was the development of a worksheet designed to complement our AI chatbot, enabling students to strengthen their vocabulary, grammar, and sentence-making skills through self-directed learning. This initiative, alongside the creation of sustainable teaching materials and the promotion of idea-sharing among teachers, has significantly enhanced our teaching practices. QSIP’s professionalism, expertise, and dedication have been instrumental in driving these improvements. Dr. Candice TO, Head of English Department at TWGHs Li Ka Shing College
Through QSIP sessions, teachers collaborate to plan, design, implement, and revise tiered worksheets and structured practice materials. These resources are designed to scaffold students’ learning and help them address the specific challenges they face.
With the support of QSIP and extensive training, significant improvements have been observed in students’ performance in the Listening Paper, particularly in short tasks such as making changes and gap-filling. Students have also shown remarkable progress in tasks requiring answer prediction, a skill that was strengthened through targeted practice.
After gaining a deeper understanding of how to break down tasks for students, our teachers feel more confident in designing and delivering lessons that highlight key areas students should focus on. This approach has not only enhanced teaching effectiveness but also significantly boosted students’ learning outcomes. We are thrilled with the transformative impact of the QSIP program and highly recommend it to other schools.

Our teachers are also empowered to explore how multi-layered and multi-dimensional assessment data can be analyzed to inform teaching and learning. Various strategies such as blueprint of assessment paper, alignment of teaching and assessment as well as vertical planning have been dealt with. This serves to facilitate pre-assessment professional discussion and post-assessment evaluation, thereby generating useful feedback for formulating future plans.
We sincerely appreciate QSIP’s dedicated school-based support in facilitating and sustaining the professional development of our teachers and school. Their insightful, practical advice and comments have been extremely valuable to curriculum leaders and other stakeholders.

‘Data Speaks!’
Assessments play a crucial role in the educational process. How educators transform assessments of learning into assessments as tools for teaching and learning has become the focal point in optimizing the effectiveness of both. Collaboration with the QSIP officer is instrumental in reviewing and renewing our internal assessments. In today’s data-driven world, by turning data into intelligence, we can therefore make informed decision and plan strategically in both curriculum design and assessments. Analyzing assessment data provides valuable insights that enable teachers to gain a deeper understanding of not only student progress and performance but also the quality and validity of the assessment. Data-driven decision-making promotes transparency and accountability within organizations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in the ever-changing educational landscape.
